Getting the data off the watch and onto my PC is a different matter. The watch is impressive, and I can even set up customised screens to show multiple data items such as average speed, current speed, position in lat/long and OS grid. I have a Garmin Fenix watch which I use to record GPS tracks so that I know where I've been and can analyse speed, etc, afterwards.

My impression is that Garmin have a single fixed idea about how they expect you to use the device, and the software is written for that single expectation. If anyone knows a website or even a youtube vidoe or whatever that could help with this, I would be grateful. how on earth has Garmin stayed on top of this market with such dire user interfaces? Then how do I make sure the route formed in paddleplanner is in there and works on that map?
The vendor assures me all i need to do is plug it into the SD slot. I have an SD card coming from Canada, loaded with the the necessary maps. I have another gpx route created using paddleplanner. i have created a test route in the OS app.

Aside from the quaint 1980s arcade game interface on the screen, I am struggling to figure out how to do the following, even after much googling: I thought all this tech stuff had become Apple-fied and much more seamless. I have used their fitness devices for decades as well, and always thought the hardware was great, the software was dire.įor a number of reasons, I now want to load a map on a handheld and then follow a route created in a different program. I have had a couple different handheld Garmins since the 90s, but have only ever used them for the national lottery like giant finger coming down saying ' you are right here' and then using a paper map to navigate.
